IIIA-CSIC

The Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), located next to Barcelona, Catalonia, belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Spain’s largest public multidisciplinary research organisation. 

The CSIC collaborates with national and international universities, public RTD organisations, SMEs, companies and other institutions of a scientific/technological nature. The CSIC has 135 institutes or centres distributed throughout Spain, including 51 Joint Research Units with universities or other research institutions.

Founded in 1985, the IIIA-CSIC is a leading research centre in Europe in logic, reasoning and search; case-based reasoning and machine learning; and intelligent agents and multi-agent systems. These research lines are applied to many domains, the main ones being electronic markets, agreement technologies, medicine, music, information privacy/security, and autonomous robots. These activities have attracted extensive funding from the European, Spanish, and Catalan governments and has led to substantial collaborative research projects with industry.
